Yellow Fever Certificate: What You Need to Know
24 Sep, 2026
What is the yellow fever certificate?
The International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICVP) is the official record that you have had the yellow fever vaccine. Some countries require it for entry, especially if you are arriving from a country with yellow fever risk.
The certificate becomes valid 10 days after vaccination and, under current World Health Organization rules, lasts for life.
Where yellow fever is a risk
Yellow fever is found in parts of sub-Saharan Africa and tropical South America, including countries such as Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana and Brazil. NaTHNaC publishes up-to-date advice for every country.
Who can give the vaccine
In England, only registered Yellow Fever Vaccination Centres can give the vaccine and issue the certificate. You can find your nearest centre using the NaTHNaC centre finder on travelhealthpro.org.uk.
Other travel vaccines
Most trips to yellow fever areas also need other vaccines, such as Hepatitis A and Typhoid, plus malaria advice. Book a travel appointment at Nexus Pharmacy in Nottingham and we will go through what your trip needs.
