Do I Need Vaccinations for Europe?
22 Sep, 2026
Usually, no
For most holidays in Western Europe, you just need to be up to date with routine UK vaccines, such as MMR and the diphtheria, tetanus and polio booster.
When you might need more
- Tick-borne encephalitis - for hiking or camping in forested areas of Central and Eastern Europe and Scandinavia
- Hepatitis A - for some parts of Eastern Europe, or if you are staying with family or eating street food
- Rabies - for long stays or work with animals in some countries
Other things to pack
Bring a valid GHIC (Global Health Insurance Card), travel insurance, enough of your regular medicines and a small first aid kit.
